How to compare a single filter with a multipack
The per-filter price helps, but the amount you pay today still matters.
Show both numbers
A hypothetical three-pack costing $30 is $10 per filter—but you still pay $30 for the pack. A single filter costing $12 requires less money today. Neither is automatically the better purchase. Shipping, quantity needed and whether you want spare filters can change the answer.
Compare the same contents
A bundle is only comparable when its contents are established. Similar retailer titles do not prove that two packs contain the same filter. Mixed-stage replacement kits also need a component-by-component match; counting every piece as an interchangeable filter would produce misleading arithmetic.
Keep useful totals, drop repetition
For one filter, the purchase price and quantity are normally sufficient. For equipment requiring several filters at once, cost per complete replacement can be more useful. Annual estimates only help when the replacement schedule and comparison justify them; they should not repeat the price of a simple single-filter purchase.
