Why this filter
What’s included
Winix lists one main filter and four carbon filters in this set.
How this compares
This is a checked replacement, not a Best Overall or Best Value winner yet. Before choosing a winner, we need other filters we can trust, a fair comparison of how they work and how reliable they are, and current prices including shipping.
Filtration tests and details
These records explain which filter results we have checked and what their limits are. The same certification name does not mean two filters work equally well.
What we have verified about filtration
Manufacturer-supported fit does not by itself establish filtration efficiency, odor removal or superiority over another replacement. Those performance claims need their own reviewed evidence for the exact filter and equipment combination.

Installation and care
Installing the replacement
For D480: unplug before servicing and remove all new-filter plastic wrapping. Fit the main filter at the back, one carbon sheet in the middle and the permanent mesh pre-filter at the front. Never wash the carbon sheet or main filter. Replace the carbon sheet about every three months and the main filter around 12 months or when its reminder appears; conditions affect timing. Clean the mesh about every 14 days with a vacuum or soft brush. If rinsing the mesh, use room-temperature water without soap and dry it for at least 24 hours. After replacement, refit the mesh and close the front panel. With the unit on, press the recessed Filter Reset button with a small object for at least five seconds until it beeps.
Caring for the filters
The four carbon filters are used one at a time. Follow the purifier instructions; do not assume these disposable carbon filters are washable.
