Installation and care
Installing the replacement
For the 5500-2: unplug the purifier, remove the new filters’ plastic wrapping, and place the main filter at the back, carbon filter in the middle, and permanent mesh pre-filter at the front. Never wash the main filter. The 5500-2 manual allows its AOC carbon filter to be rinsed in room-temperature water without soap; let it dry fully for at least 24 hours. Clean the mesh pre-filter every two weeks. Carbon cleaning is suggested every three months; replacement timing depends on conditions. Use your own appliance manual for other Filter H models.
For AM80: unplug before servicing and remove the new filters’ plastic wrapping. Install the main filter at the back, AOC carbon in the middle, and permanent mesh pre-filter at the front. Never wash the main filter. Clean the mesh about every two weeks and the washable AOC carbon about every three months. Use room-temperature water without soap, and dry rinsed filters for at least 24 hours. Winix suggests replacing the carbon and main filter around 12 months or when the reminder appears; conditions affect timing. After replacement, hold the recessed Filter Reset button for at least five seconds while the unit is on.
Caring for the filters
Winix warns that carbon-filter performance may decrease after washing. Follow the purifier instructions.
